Unique Way of Explaining WIIWD

If you are one of the growing number of Americans who do not live in a traditional family or have the church approved sex then you have probably been asked by the curious or the busybody to explain what you do. Even within the kink and poly communities few live any sort of 24/7 lifestyle for more than a few weeks or days at a time. This is book about one gay leather family told primarily through the eyes of the longterm slave of author Jack Rinella, Patrick.
Patrick had edited the journal he was acquired to keep for the first year and a half he was in service. He has added footnotes and titles to help the reader figure out what is going on but for the most part his entries are raw. They do a great job of demonstrating the emotional and physical realities of being a 24/7 slave that sounds great in fantasy, can be a huge challenge in reality, and is often far more rewarding than you originally thought it might be. It is not for everyone; nor is being a 24/7 owner either.
He has also included emails exchanges between himself and others as well as reflections at the beginning and end of the book to set the purpose of the journal and add further details about the family he is part of for anyone interested. The columns from his master are hit and miss generally because they need more context to introduce and explain their value to the reader. Lacking more direct context they feel jarring to encounter through alone or in their own book collections they are a great read for any younger leatherman or woman for that matter.
Let me clear that I know both Patrick and Jack and have for many years. Given what I know and what I have seen, these are honest entries and they dispel many common myths about this way of life. As Patrick tells us over and over in the journal most people who think they want this can't handle it. When it works out, let me say, that you have something to be proud of as a family.

Very detailed but interesting diary of a leather slave

Slave-ography is a fascinating and useful memoir for anyone interested in Master/slave relationships. While the journal format goes into tremendous detail, sometimes (literally) blow-by-blow, it is an inside account of a well-known Chicago leather family.
For those who have asked me about my family and been told "It's complicated", the original "complicated leather family" is the one described in this book. While I am even more impressed with Jack Rinella's "Becoming a Slave," "Slave-ography" is a good companion volume for those who want to know more about Jack's slave(s) and leather family.
